Consistency between Home and Daycare will allow your baby to easily transition with little to no issues.
Safety is our priority. Your toddler will be able to explore in a safe, organized, sanitary environment.
Learning & Growing is fun. Lotus focuses on introducing a variety of educational & social experiences.
Lotus uses Dr. Browns glass bottles. We will adjust the nipple flow as needed from 1-4 for your baby. Please use this brand bottle at home for easy transition.
When freezing breastmilk please lay the breastmilk flat so it is easier to store in our freezer.
Our philosophy on feeding in the fist year of life is to feed your baby when he/she is hungry. If your baby is showing signs of hunger, (i.e. crying, sucking on hands, etc), we will feed the baby. It is against our policy to limit food or drink at a parents request. We follow basic feeding suggested servings but we do not follow a strict per ounce limit if the child is still showing signs of hunger.
Under no circumstance will we refuse a child breastmilk, formula or baby food as requested by a parent/guardian when a child is showing signs of hunger.
We typically follow the Feeding Guide issued by John Hopkins University Hospital during baby's first year. When you and we begin introducing purees, we will slowly introduce foods in case of any allergies. You are welcome to bring in a variety of purees for your baby to try during this time period.
* Lotus currently does not support the "Baby Led Weaning Approach".
Your baby's poop is a big deal. Constipation can lead to incredible discomfort and a very fussy baby. If we believe that this is an issue for your baby we will either give your baby prune juice or prune puree depending on their age and preferences. If your baby has extremely soft stools they may need to see their pediatrician if they do not quickly improve.
If your baby has cradle cap, we will expect you (and your pediatrician if necessary) to provide a treatment. We will use the oil or treatment that you provide for us as needed while your baby is in our care.
We gently transition your baby to our nap schedule that all baby's follow at Lotus. We use Halo Wearable Blankets that you will provide for your child. Due to Indiana state regulations we are unable to swaddle infants and we request that you purchase the Halo Wearable Blanket (SleepSack) and not an alternative brand, as these wearable blankets are certified.
We ask you to provide the following items on a consistent basis:
We request that each child have 2-3 changes of clothes here at Lotus. If we need to change your child, we will launder their soiled clothing.
Each child is encouraged to bring one favorite toy with them to Lotus. This toy can remain at the facility or go back and forth with your child.
We ask that you provide the correct size diapers and/or pull-ups for your child on an ongoing basis. Lotus will provide wipes and diaper creams as needed.
Lotus provides an individual cot, blanket and pillow for each child, during rest time.
Lotus provides all food. This includes breakfast, lunch and a snack. Please always keep us updated on any problem or allergenic foods. The current menus can be viewed in the Downloadable Documents section. These menus may change from time to time and this will be reflected here.
